A Few of My Favorite Things

Hi everyone, being that this is the last blog post I wanted to make it special! I have enjoyed the time we spent together and thought ending the blog this way would be most appropriate. We have learned a lot about each other these past months, I just want to ensure that you know me and know what makes me - me.

My family is the most important part of my life, as I have said in older posts. I have no clue what I would do without their support, love and most importantly laughter! Second to my family, are my dogs – Pika, Mana and Rookie, as much as they drive me nuts sometimes, they also provide me with a wealth of love and force me daily to smell the flowers (usually as I am pulling them out of their mouths – AUGH).

Now on to the world – the causes most important to me are all related to my life personally. Dogs, the care and treatment of, knowledge of, and responsibility for rank top. Like the elderly and children, dogs cannot speak for themselves or care for themselves, we need to! I support the ASPCA, ARC, AKC and Southeastern Guide Dogs in their efforts to spread the word, and as a bonus, the festivals they have are a blast! I support our soldiers – the men and women and their families who ensure my life is the best it can be! Whether you believe in the war or not, the soldiers need to know we are there for them. Finally, I stand behind the efforts of many nature organizations, Ducks Unlimited, WWF, and the Sierra Club and others who ensure that the earth stays as glorious as it is.

So, that’s me in a nut shell.

I agree family is most important, they bring a lot into our lives. I support and acknowledge all the armed forces and their families. It is just as hard on the ones left behind as the ones off to war. They are the reason we can do what we do. They keep us safe and secure. I also love animals and hate that there are people out there that abuse them.
Good luck in your future and God bless and keep you safe.

  2. Hi Patricia,

If you ever get a chance to see the "Calendar Girls" perform around Fort Myers or Cape Coral, you should see them. They founded their dance troupe to benefit "seeing-eye service" dogs originally. The women are all over 50 and they do wonderfully choreographed and costumed entertainment to highly diverse music. I saw them perform at a Red Cross banquet last night, complete with red sequined top hats.

You should watch the news next Tuesday. A national EPA team of reps will be at Harborside Event Center to get input from locals regarding SW Florida water quality standards. I will be there and have registered to speak my two cents.

I applaud your efforts to support veterans. How can we possibly justify sending them into combat and then not provide them with the very best care possible upon their return home?

  3. Hi Ladies!
Thank you both for being so responsive to my post!

And, Nancy I am very familiar with the Calendar Girls - I actually saw them at the "Paws for Patriots" event at Anthony's a few weeks ago. They are a great group of ladies, and are a wonderful organization especially for the Southeastern Guide Dogs. They sponsor some of the puppies in the group.
